Abie and Os are seen at the fore cross-trees, which is the junction between the foretopmast and the foregallantmast.  It’s where lookouts were often posted, for the obvious reason that the horizon is further away the higher the viewer is situated, and the foremast is in front of the other masts, thus less obstructed visually.  Os isn’t too keen on heights, as you may have noticed previously.
